Road Closure Map
Dear Neighbors,
It’s almost time for the Great Carnation 4th of July Parade + Festivities again this year! We’re writing to inform you about the street closures and parking policies this year. As for 100+ years, our town will gather on July 4th to celebrate our shared connections.
On July 3rd (Wednesday), we hope you’ll join us downtown at Miller’s for a free Kick-Off party featuring the band The Dusty 45s at 8pm. “No Parking” signs will go up along the parade route, but no roads will be closed on that evening.
On July 4th (Thursday), roads will close by 9am for the Kiddie Parade + Grand Parade (and other downtown events) similar to last year in 2023. Traffic will re-route from Tolt Avenue at Blanche to Stossel, follow Entwistle to Milwaukee, and continue back to 203 via E. Morrison. Vendors and downtown activities will take place on E. Bird, W. Bird, and Stossel. The Grand Parade will line up on West Rutherford Street.
Overall, roads will be closed downtown Thursday from W. Morrison Street to W. Blanche Street from 9am to 3pm and inside the detour + activities areas. CERT Volunteers and King County Police will monitor and safeguard the closure areas at the main barricades on Tolt Ave. as well as the other closure points on the side streets. We appreciate your courtesy and support of the volunteers.
NOTE: Neighborhood street access points are for resident use only. Thru traffic or non-resident parking is not permitted. Direct your visitors to park for free at Tolt Middle School or Remlinger Farms. For ADA, park at the Library and Carnation Elementary. We’ll also run a shuttle for the first time this year from Remlinger to the Catholic Church from 9a-12p and 4-7pm, thanks to Hopelink Duvall.
