Kiddie Parade Instructions
Participating in the Carnation 4th of July Annual Kiddie Parade is a fun and exciting way to celebrate with your children of all ages. Here are some instructions to help you prepare for the parade:
Line up begins promptly at 10:30AM at the intersection of Myrtle and Tolt Ave.. Arrive early so you have enough time to grab a spot in the lineup and get your free ice cream coupon! If you have any questions, a volunteer can help you, never be afraid to ask for support.
Dress appropriately. We recommend comfortable shoes as the parade route is a 30min walk. Costumes, American flags, and red/white/blue are all encouraged. Have fun! You’re on parade!
Bring water and sunscreen: It can get hot and sunny during the parade with no shade, so be sure to bring plenty of water and apply sunscreen on your child’s skin to protect them. Adults should not be carrying open containers of alcohol nor be intoxicated while chaperoning your child in the parade.
Walk with your child or designate a meeting spot. We recommend adults stay with their kids and walk the parade together, but please make a plan for where to meet afterwards if you choose to split up.
Decorate your stroller or wagon. If your child will be riding in a stroller or wagon, feel free to decorate with streamers, balloons, flags, and anything else you can think of. Please keep all decorations appropriate and safe (nothing should be dragging on the ground or at risk of tripping someone).
Motorized ride-on cars/Power Wheels are allowed, but please make sure your child operating is an experienced driver. This is not the time to take your new pink corvette for a test drive ;)
Follow any verbal rules or commands given by parade volunteers: Stay within the designated route, do not run, race, or jump in front of other parade participants, do not throw items or candy, and keep a safe distance from everyone around you to avoid bumping into others.
Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings, keeping an eye on your child at all times. Stay alert for any potential hazards like vehicles or uneven pavement.
Have fun! The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the experience with your child. Wave to the crowds, smile, and celebrate America’s independence!
